The challenge
Stone chip was wreaking havoc at the Auckland City Council swimming pool at Albany Stadium. An outdoor seating area laden with stone chip was blocking drains, finding its way inside the facility and was generally an eyesaw. SmartGrass was called on by Auckland City Council to revamp the outdoor seating area with turf that would upgrade its appearance, be comfortable for bare feet, withstand use as a bike parking area and resolve the maintenance costs associated with the stones.
The solution
SmartGrass installers assessed the 25m x 3m site and created a plan to excavate and remove the existing stone chip and create a solid permeable base. All SmartGrass products are extremely durable and Oasis 35 was selected for it’s neat appearance, suitability to high foot traffic and 5x faster drainage.
The installation team at SmartGrass completed the project exactly to the client’s specifications and timeframe, as well as meeting all health and safety requirements.
