Miki D’s Gym
Miki D’s pride themselves on being a boutique gym that is anything but mainstream. The popular Nelson gym had a new location and fresh ideas for bright, lively workout spaces.

The challenge
Miki wanted to create different zones within the gym. A strip for pulling sleds, a functional area with battle ropes and kettlebells, and a spot for core work and stretching. These different zones would require turf types to suit.
The new space had bare concrete floors and in some areas would require a SmartGrass Shockpad System, providing light cushioning and shock absorbance to help soften the impact of high intensity workouts.
The solution
SmartGrass was the flooring solution that was cost effective, durable enough to withstand tough tabata workouts and looked fantastic.
Using plans provided we could assess the space and quickly price, order and install the SmartGrass to ensure Miki D’s grand opening went ahead as planned. Two turf types – Active 12 and Diehard 20 – we selected to cater for the different workout zones.
SmartGrass sport turf range comes in a variety of colours, and Miki opted for white line markings in the sled pulling strip. These were cut in and the newly laid turf had weight and cardio machines placed on top, creating the bright and lively look they wanted.
